ETS Scope Calculator

Check which EU ETS scope applies to your voyage and whether the carrier's invoice applied it correctly — for one B/L.

The scope rule is set in law. Whether the carrier applied it correctly is only visible from the invoice — many carriers don't state the scope they applied at all.

Frequently asked questions

Is this calculation legally binding?

No. This is an indicative estimate based on Directive 2003/87/EC as amended — useful for a quick sanity check, but it does not replace a full audit, which additionally checks transshipment ports and the invoice's formal completeness.

What should I do if the calculator shows a possible overpayment?

Don't file a claim with the carrier yourself based only on this calculation — contact us and send the invoice. In a free initial review we'll confirm whether it's worth filing a claim.

What does it mean if a port is unknown?

This calculation is based on the port's country code (the first two characters of the UN/LOCODE) — if the port belongs to an EU outermost region (e.g. French Guiana) or the LOCODE isn't recognized, the scope cannot be determined automatically and no result is shown, rather than guessed.
