D&D Audit

Demurrage & Detention Calculator

Enter your contract terms and one invoice — in a few seconds you'll see whether the carrier calculated the free time correctly.

Quick check

This is a preliminary, indicative check. A full audit additionally verifies invoice formal completeness, force majeure circumstances, and the fine print of your contract.

How the calculation works

The calculator compares three things: the total number of days between container discharge and empty return, the free time specified in your contract, and the daily rate that applies after it. The result — what you should owe based on these numbers — is compared to the amount the carrier actually invoiced.

What this tool does NOT check

This is a preliminary, indicative check, not a full audit. It does not assess: the invoice's formal completeness (container number, B/L number, a clear period); force majeure circumstances (port congestion, a strike); the nuances of how weekends and holidays apply under your specific contract; or fine print that could change the standard calculation. A full D&D audit checks all of this in addition.

Frequently asked questions

Is this result legally binding?

No. It's an indicative, preliminary calculation meant to help you quickly decide whether it's worth digging further. A formal claim to the carrier needs full documentation and contract analysis — that's exactly what a full D&D audit does.

The calculator shows a possible overcharge — what next?

Get in touch. The initial invoice review is free, and we only charge on what's actually recovered — if we recover nothing, you pay nothing.

How accurate is this calculator?

As accurate as the data you enter. It doesn't account for holiday calendars, force majeure circumstances, or contract fine print — that's what a full audit checks, not a calculator.
