Freight audit
Driver detention: we detect undocumented waiting time, you decide what to do
Driver detention almost never has a document — the invoice for it simply never gets written. This module helps you notice it while there's still time to add it to the invoice.
How it works
- Enter the carrier's name, arrival and departure time — manually, without any invoice or other document.
- The system checks the time against your contracted free time and hourly rate (contracted_rates) for that carrier.
- If the time is exceeded, you get an instant flag with a calculation — even if the invoiced amount is €0 (not yet billed).
- You decide whether to document a detention note and raise it with the consignor. We never file any claim on your behalf.
What you should honestly know
The CMR consignment note has dates, not hours. Calculating driver detention requires a real arrival/departure time — from telematics, a driver entry, or a signed note. The system NEVER guesses this time from the consignment note's text. Times are currently entered manually — automatic telematics integration does not exist yet.
Pricing
Driver detention detection is part of the same Freight Invoice Audit module — €79/month ongoing control, covering both invoice checking and detention detection. This category is never subject to a success fee, regardless of how many detention cases are found.
Frequently asked questions
Does this mean you'll file a claim on my behalf?
No. The system only detects and calculates possible undocumented detention. The decision whether to document a note and raise it with the consignor is yours. We never file any detention claim.
Why doesn't this category carry a success fee, like the container D&D audit?
Because we have clients on both sides of the same detention dispute at the same time — cargo owners and carriers. A commission for detecting detention would create a conflict of interest regardless of which side we'd be helping. So this category is always a fixed monthly price, never gain-share.
How do I actually get an arrival and departure time?
From telematics data, a driver app, or a note signed on site. Our system only processes those times — we don't automatically integrate with telematics providers at this time.
Can I use this feature without a Cargo Intelligence subscription?
If you're a D&D audit client, access is granted directly through your D&D relationship, without a separate Cargo subscription.
You can also mark this service as an interest on the Cargo Intelligence plan order form — we'll activate it after a short call.
