How we measure the result
A finding with no answer as to how it ended is unfinished work. This page sets out what exactly we count, what goes into a recovered amount, when a figure gets published, and why some of the figures are not there yet.
What counts as a result
“We filed a claim” is not a result. Every finding has its own chain: detected → presented to you in the pack → claimed against the other side → accepted in full or in part → paid or applied as a set-off. Each step is recorded separately, with a date and with whatever evidences it.
In three modules — customs, road tolls and excise — you file with the authority yourself, so we never see the outcome unless you tell us. That is precisely why tracking is not an analytics extra but a precondition: without it neither you nor we know whether a check actually works.
What goes into a recovered amount
Only what a document supports: a payment order, a credit note, or an authority decision. Your own report without a document is recorded and visible, but it does not enter the recovered amount.
The distinction is not bureaucratic. A figure that cannot be shown carries no weight in a dispute or in a pricing conversation — and it is that figure we rely on when we say a module works.
Why we publish no percentages yet
We publish a figure only once a module has at least 20 resolved cases. Three out of three is not one hundred percent — it is three cases; the fourth would turn it into 75 %, and both numbers would be equally unreliable.
The same threshold applies to us internally: a decision about which module to expand is made on the same sample. The threshold lives in the code, not only on this page, so it cannot quietly be waived in a sales conversation.
Which indicators we compute
Detection rate — how many findings there are per object checked. What an object is depends on the module: a container, a wagon, a declaration, an invoice line, or a vehicle over a period. Without the object count this indicator is not computed at all — dividing findings by findings would produce a number that merely looks like an indicator.
Acceptance rate — how many claimed findings the other side accepted. Recovery rate — what share of the amount presented is money supported by documents. Median days to money — from claim to funds. Not pursued — the share of findings you decided not to raise, together with the reason.
How an error finds its way back into the code
Precision is computed per check, and only rejections on the merits count towards it — those where the other side shows why the calculation is wrong. A rejection for a missed deadline or a formal defect says nothing about the check: the other side can be wrong and still win.
A check that is consistently rejected on the merits gets fixed in the code. It is the only indicator that goes back into the engine itself rather than into a report.
How this relates to price
The success fee is calculated on the document-supported recovered amount, and only within 24 months of the pack being issued. Recovered later, the amount is still measured but no longer billable. A set-off counts as recovered for measurement straight away; for the fee, only once it has actually been applied.
Driver detention never carries a success fee, in any country. There we detect and show, and the decision whether to raise it with your own customer is yours — taking a percentage there would put us on both sides of the same dispute.
What we do not do
We do not file a claim in your name and we do not contact the other side. The pack is a report in our name and a claim template in yours, in which Demurrit is not mentioned. We never speak to your customer — no reminders, no demands.
We do not estimate amounts that are not in the documents. Where a check lacks data, the report says so: what we did not check and why. An unperformed check left unmentioned is more dangerous than an error found.
How you report the outcome
In the portal, every finding shows its state and one field that changes it. If the money arrived, you attach the document; if you decided not to pursue it, you give the reason. The reason stays with us and we use it to decide what to check differently.
After the pack is issued we remind you on day 30, 60, 90 and 180, and only while an answer is still missing. After 180 days a finding that was never claimed against the other side closes as “not pursued” — the record remains, because that too is a result, just a different one. A claim already filed stays open: we wait for its outcome as long as it takes.
